Hey folks: I'm just getting ready to bid on an ipod 20 gb unit. It's the 4th gen model with the thumb wheel. I am just wondering on the accessibility of this unit?
Thanks in advance!

Ipods are not accessible.

Ipods are not at all accessible, the itunes web site is horrible, it's almost not accessible, that whole IPod craze is not designed for the blind. I'd go with other players, they are cheaper and more accessible, I'll look up the one I have, can't remember right now what the brand is, but it's good.
cheers

Wonder if any of you have tried the new Sony HD3 and how accessible have you found it. Also how accessible have you found the Sonic state software that accompanies Sony's A track systems

Thanks

for accessibility I'd go for the book curier, I might not have spelt that right, but it's ,made by springer design. ok, it's a text reader as well as an mp3 player, but it's accessible, and was made with blind ppl in mind.

Apple is coming out with a new Ipod that will be accessible. It doesn't have an LCD screen.

Even if Apple is coming out with an Ipod with out a screen, what is the purpose/reason for that? Also, isn't a person still going to have to use Itunes to tranfer music, and if that isn't accessible...then, what's the point? I'd love to have an ipod, just b/c i like the digital music idea, and CD's are getting annoying and i have too many, but I need something that's totally accessible. I'm totally blind.

here we go. the IPod physically is not accessible. there is software one can get for the IPod. www.mediafour.com check out x play. it is very good, and I spent the money on getting a copy. I recommend getting sighted assistance to learn the layout of the IPod, but it is manageable. I carry mine with me everyday. For those who say and IPod isn't accessible. Have you ever come in contact with one other than ITunes?
